I am new in a leadership role, that was also the purpose of my visit to a leadership workshop with Tatiana. She is the one who shows people how to become THE leader. I could not have chosen anybody better than one of the most famous leaders, the lady of the Czech and Slovak Google, Tatiana le Moigne.
I do not write here each word which she said but I must admit that she is a very powerful and interesting person to listen to. She talked about her career, how to become a good leader and what a leader should fulfill. And what is her point of view if you want to be THE leader, what should you stick to? There are ten basic rules for it…Be yourself!
- Start with yourself
- Master relationships&networks
- Grow&develop your people
- Listen
- Develop skills for the future
- Understand complexity
- Manage change 24/7
- Understand the trends
- Think big / out of the box
Hm. Nice. But… Where can I find answers for questions such as these?
- What meetings should I have with people?
- How to train them?
- What are the exact steps that I should stick to?
- How to set up the training plans? And for many others…
This was not discussed or even mentioned, so should I be disappointed? Or is it really not what leadership is about?
I have visited this workshop with the goal of knowing how to become THE leader. And the conclusion is? Nobody can tell you that. First of all it is about knowing myself and that is why I am the best one to ask these questions. If I do not know myself, how should I know other people and moreover how should I lead them and motivate them? With great difficulty…
Secondly, it is more about people you work with rather than about stuff you work on. I am happy I work with great people who have become my friends. Friends who I have chosen… So hopefully, I will become THE leader because it is easier with beloved people than with people you do not get along with.
At the end, I would like to share one thought mentioned during the workshop.
„Watch your thoughts,
for they become words.
Watch your words,
for they become actions.
Watch your actions,
for they become habits.
Watch your habits,
for they become your character.
And watch your character,
for it becomes your destiny.
What we think, we become. My father always said that. And I think, I am fine.“

You can ask me as well how I am. The answer will be clear 😊.
